Trinity outshot Southwest Christian 24-12 and dominated much of the first half and all of the second half with periods of lovely possession and penetrating runs leading to good chances.

9/8/09...Trinity Stopped by Heritage

Posted by John Seipp at Sep 9, 2009 7:23PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

The Heritage Christian Eagles handed Trinity its first loss of the season, and first home loss 3-1. Fighting a slew of injuries and rusty after the long Labor Day Weekend, Trinity surrendered the first goal just 8 minutes in. They equalized just two minutes later when Annie pulled down a beautiful cross from Ellie with an outstanding first touch and pounded it home. Heritage would score again four minutes before halftime, and add an insurance goal in the second half. Heritage started six seniors, and their pronounced advantage in size, strength and experience proved too much for the Tri Hawks on this day.

Player of the Game honors went to Liz Reinhardt. Liz has developed quickly into an outstanding back and played brilliantly in this game, tracking down run after run against much bigger opponents. Without her work, Katelyn would have been much, much busier in the net and the final score could have been very different.

9/3/09...Trinity Muzzles Mustangs

Posted by John Seipp at Sep 3, 2009 8:48PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

It is tough to arrive at a game field and be expected to play less than five minutes later, but Trinity fought through early rough patches to outplay Maranatha en route to a 2-0 halftime lead on the strength of a lovely chip by Julia W. and an outstanding early cross from Rachael that Ellie pounded home. The quality of play dropped off in the second half, with a breakaway goal by Julia Z. proving the game winner as the Mustangs scored two goals off defensive breakdowns.

Ellie was named Player of the Game. Ellie has been the consummate teammate this season, actively working to incorporate and mentor the new players and get them into the flow of Varsity play. This game Ellie began to assert herself again, and was an unstoppable force on the ball. She often took on 2 and 3 defenders and wreaked havoc in the Maranatha back line.

8/31/09...Trinity Sinks Scots

Posted by John Seipp at Aug 31, 2009 6:26PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

Trinity took its act on the road for the first time this season and brought home a 1-0 win over section foe Highland Park. Highland Park brought speed and skill and aggressive play at the Tri Hawks, but the team rose to the challenge behind outstanding keeping, fierce defense, intelligent midfield play and speedy offense. Annie tallied her second goal in as many games, with a tremendous half-volley from the right that beat the keeper high.

Shannon was honored as Player of the Game for her fearless play from whistle to whistle. Shannon never hesitated to get stuck in no matter the size of the opponent and hounded and harried the Scots midfield all day while finding creative entry passes into the final third.

8/27/09...Trinity Beats Breck

Posted by John Seipp at Aug 30, 2009 3:47PM PDT ( 0 Comments )

In the very first game on the brand-new soccer field at Trinity, the team stunned 5th ranked Breck en route to a 2-1 win. Although Breck had a 3-1 edge in shots, a swarming defense kept most of those efforts long-range, and outstanding goalkeeping took care of the few quality attempts. The Trinity counters were quick and effective and the score could easily have been 3-1 or 4-1 for the home team.

Becca was named Player of the Game for her physical and intelligent play in the back. More than one Breck attack ran into a wall when it reached Becca, and she consistently played the ball smartly out of the back to jump start counterattacks.
